A Poem by Farrokhi Seestani
10th Century Persian Poet
The Second Kiss
I desired the second kiss from
her ruby lips.
"Cultivate a lowly weed by the libation of your lips,"
said I.
"One is enough," said she, "if
you take the second kiss,
it would be a calamity; has been proven many a time."
"How so?" I asked. "The
second kiss of mine is a second life." Said she,
"Have you ever known anyone who lived twice?"
