Persian
Scholars
Some of the highly respected and most wellknown
scientists and philosophers in Iran's long history whose achievments
in civilazation of the world are quite obvious, are unfortunately
regarded as Arab scholars in some dictionaries and encyclopaedias
of the Western world.
We think this is everyone's duty to mention the errors to their
publishers and urge them to make corrections in future editions,
otherwise Persian scholars would continue to be introduced to
the world as Arabs.
There are two letters sent by Mr. Shahrokh Ahkami, editor of
Persian Heritage periodical published in New Jersey, and by Mr.
Farhang Sadeghpour a prominent Iranian scholar in Massachusettes,
both addressed to Random House publishing company in New York,
regarding some errors in its dictionaries. Copies of both letters
have been forwarded to the Library of Congress in Washington
D.C.
