You Will Know...

When you see the worried look on the face of a 7-year-old boy and ask him 'what's the matter' only to hear him answer with his own question: 'Mommy, do I have to go to daddy's house tonight?', you will know...

When you see his eyes light up with love as his dad arrives to pick him up, and seconds later see him cling to his mom with tears in his eyes, you will know...

When you see heartbreak in his face as he slowly climbs into dad's car and plants his nose to the window and his eyes on mom, you will know...

When you sadly feel in your own heart that torn condition of his heart, you will know...

When you see him as he returns to his mom after a weekend at dad's house, a weekend with a young woman who has replaced his mom in his dad's heart, you will know...

When you see the anger in his eyes as he wonders why his dad does not love mom any more and why he can't have both of them every day, you will know...

When you see him resist his mom as she gently administers the discipline that she know he must have, you will know...

When you look at him through the eyes of his grandfather who is so much closer to eternity than his grandson, you will know...

And when you multiply this boy's plight by the millions and millions of other boys and girls who share his dilemma, you will know...

When you realize how many fatherless boys just a little older than this one have turned to crime and violence, you will know...

When you read about murderous home replacement gangs who spray our streets with bullets in their deadly wars with rival gangs, you will know...

When you have seen all these things and have prayfully considered them in your heart, then you will know why God says I hate divorce.
