Heart Surgery Doctors at Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pennsylvania state), performed for the first time ever, a heart by-pass surgury on a patient who was fully awake during the procedure. The 51-year-old man was able to talk with the operating room staff and there were no heart-lung machines or breathing tubes involved. For the surgery, doctors only used epidoral, and the patient was discharged after one night.
